The internationally renowned Bupa Cromwell Hospital, based in the heart of Kensington in London,
opened in 1981 as a state-of-the-art private facility for complex care.
Since then it has established a reputation for innovation and is
continually investing in the world’s most advanced diagnostic and
treatment technologies.
Bupa Cromwell Hospital provides cardiology services for adults and children to treat conditions such as:
-
Coronary artery disease: Fatty deposits building up on the walls of the artery to the heart, creating heart pain (angina).
-
Congenital heart disease: Strain on the heart by disease causing it to pump less efficiently.
-
Heart failure: The heart not pumping blood around the body as well as it should be.
-
Heart valve disease: One or more valves aren’t working and blood is not flowing through the heart properly.
The hospital is the base for world class cardiovascular specialists including cardiologists, specialist nurses, and technicians who use some of the latest equipment.
Specialist equipment
Continuing investment in the latest equipment means patients benefit from the best diagnostic tools available:
-
The Discovery CT7500HD computerised tomography (CT) scanner gives quicker scan times, with improved image quality for all areas of the body while reducing the radiation dose by 50%. Clinicians can now run full cardiac CT scanning, and analyse fine vessels and structures they could not visualise with previous CT Scanners. A full body scan can be carried out in just 10 seconds
-
Newly updated Phillips FD 20 / 20 Bi-plane angiography suite offering the most up to date technology including 3D imaging - currently available in London - enabling consultants to make clear and fast diagnoses and perform complex procedures
Non-invasive cardiology
Cardiac physiologists are able to evaluate the condition of your heart and diagnose problems without performing surgery. All investigations are performed by trained specialists and include:
Electrocardiograms (ECGs) (resting and conventional treadmill)
Recording the electrical activity of the heart.
ECGs/Holter
Providing 24 hour and 1-7 day heart monitoring.
Stress echo imaging
Measuring motion in the walls of the heart.
Bubble studies
A blood and salt solution containing tiny air bubbles is injected into an arm vein, tracing blood-flow to the heart, to reveal if there are any holes in the heart.
Echocardiograms with Doppler
Twenty four hour blood pressure monitoring.
Myoview exercise tests
A substance is injected into the bloodstream enabling a special camera to measure how much of the material reaches the heart.
Angiography
Liquid dye is injected to make arteries more easily visible by X-ray.
