Robyn Webber : Consultant Urologist, Glasgow and Edinburgh

Robyn Webber

Mrs Robyn Webber qualified from the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand in 1987. She emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1989, and subsequently trained as a urologist. She obtained her MD degree from the University of Aberdeen, and was appointed as a consultant at Hairmyres Hospital, East Kilbride in the year 2000. In 2005, she moved to Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, where she is now based.

 

She operates her private practice from BMI Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow, Spire Murrayfield Hospital in Edinburgh, and Healthcare Now in Dunfermline.

 

She has been involved in the East of Scotland Training Programme in Urology (ESTPU) which included subspecialty training in endourology and the management of stone disease at the Scottish Lithotriptor Centre, Edinburgh.

 

Mrs Webber has a wide range of clinical interests including the management of stone disease, pelviureteric junction obstruction, minimally invasive treatment of upper tract TCC, benign and malignant prostatic disease, bladder malignancy, urinary tract infection, investigation of haematuria, vasectomy and microsurgical reversal of vasectomy.  She also undertakes medico legal reporting, note that this is only on the instruction of a firm of solicitors or other similar competent body.

 

She has a particular interest in medical education, writing, and evidence-based medicine, and was previously Associate Director of Medical Education at Hairmyres Hospital. She has either written for, or been associated with, publications including The British Journal of Urology International, The Postgraduate Medical Journal, and Clinical Evidence. She was formerly editor of Urology News, and is currently deputy editor of Surgeons News and editor of SN Global. She is also a web editor for the BJUI website and has previously contributed to the Best Treatments website.
