An orthopaedic surgeon offering private knee and hip replacement in Bolton and Wigan, Lancashire
Anil Gambhir qualified from the University of Manchester in 1991, and currently holds an NHS Consultant post at the Wrightington Hospital for joint disease. He undertook his specialist training in the North West of England and has a strong academic background, having been awarded an academic fellowship by the University of Manchester and travelling fellowships by the British Orthopaedic Association to Europe and North America. He has recently been awarded the British Hip Society travelling fellowship to the United States.
He is committed to musculoskeletal research and has taken out two periods of full time research. His main research interest is infection and arthroplasty and he is a member of the Bone Infection Group Manchester (BIGMAN). This is a multi disciplinary research group based at the University of Manchester focusing on research relating to Orthopaedics and infection. The group was founded in 1996 and remains active to the present date.
In conjunction with Wrightington Hospital and Depuy CMW he was able to investigate the microbiology of the infected total hip replacement and look at the corresponding sensitivity profiles of the various antibiotics. With this data he analysed mechanical and elutional properties of additional antibiotics in bone cement.
