Michael James Radford is a specialist knee and sports surgeon with expertise in all forms of knee replacement, sports reconstruction, cartilage repair and arthroscopic surgery.

Mr Michael Radford MBBS, FRCS, FRCS (Tr&Orth) is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon practising in Somerset, Bath and Bristol.

He qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1992.

He undertook specialist Orthopaedic training on the prestigious Oxford Rotation.

Mr Radford's specialist area of interest is surgery of the knee. He performs all forms of knee replacement including primary, complex primary, revision and uni-compartmental knee replacement with a special interest in young person arthritis.

Michael also specialises in the repair and reconstruction of sports soft tissue injuries around the knee including Cruciate and Collateral ligament rupture and meniscal repair.

Michael Radford is also an accomplished trauma surgeon with special interest in fractures around the knee.

As well as maintaining a busy clinical practice, Michael continues to teach as part of the faculty on the final FRCS (Tr&Orth) revision courses in Bristol and Oxford.

Michael’s skill as a surgeon has been recognised by industry. He is on the expert forum for the Oxford Knee replacement teaching nationally and internationally on its correct implantation. He is also on the expert forum for the Lars Ligament and one of the few national surgeons to be selected by Smith and Nephew to attend their annual forum.

Michael maintains a keen interest in research. He has been an active participant in the multi centred international Active Trial to assess the results of  pioneering cartilage regeneration techniques.
