Mr Kesava Reddy Mannur BSc, MBBS, FRCS, FRCS (gen surg) is an experienced Upper GI surgeon who has been performing advanced laparoscopic surgery since 1990 and obesity surgery/weight loss surgery since 1998. He is Director of Bariatric Surgery at the Homerton University Hospital. He has been conducting training courses and Symposiums in Baritatric Surgery both in UK and India since 2004. He has performed more than 2000 weight loss surgeries.
Training and experience as an obesity surgeon
He trained in surgery in Cardiff, Stevenage, and at the Royal London and Middlesex Hospitals. Mr Mannur has been a consultant surgeon for 17 years. From 1991 to 1993 he developed laparoscopic surgery with Mr Oliver McAnena at the Royal London Hospital. Since 1994, he has conducted many courses in laparoscopic surgery in India. Since 2004, he has been conducting training courses and symposiums in bariatric surgery both in UK and India.

He improved his techniques in obesity surgery by working with Prof Cardiere in Belgium, Dr Hendrix in Antwerp, Prof Michelle Gagner in New York and Dr Kelvin Higa in Fresno, California. He demonstrated the first laparoscopic gastric band in Chennai in Jan 2004 and since then has been conducting courses in India and London. He performs 10-15 obesity surgery operations a week. Mr Mannur also performs laparoscopic gastrectomy and oesophagectomy for cancers and frequently helps Urologists and Gynaecologists to perform nephrectomy and hysterectomy respectively.

Clinical and research interests - obesity surgery
His main interest is obesity surgery especially revisional surgery. He is also interested in the development of new techniques and changes in laparoscopic surgery to facilitate bariatric surgery and oesophageal and gastric resections. Mr Mannur has been working on scarless surgery and endoscopic surgery /NOTES. His other interests are fundoplication for heartburn/gastro-oesophageal reflux, cholecystectomy and hernia repair. He has presented his work in numerous conferences and also published several peer reviewed papers.
