Priyajit Bobby Prasad

Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist specialising in digestive wellness, all aspects of gastrointestinal disease, upper endoscopy/gastroscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy and screening for bowel cancer, therapeutic and interventional endoscopy, ERCP and stenting, endoscopic ultrasound and tumour staging.

Dr Prasad is a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London where he has been Clinical Lead Physician for Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He also consults at the Royal Marsden and Royal Brompton Hospitals in London and is a founding partner of London Gastrointestinal Associates practising at a number of leading Central London private hospitals. 

 

Bobby deals with acute and chronically ill patients as part of his routine day-to-day practice and has particular expertise in all aspects of digestive well-being, gastroenterology, endoscopy and general hepatology.  These include: abdominal pain and dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal and bowel cancer screening, gastrointestinal and rectal bleeding, jaundice, pancreatic-biliary disease, obesity, inflammatory bowel disease and colitis, heartburn and gastro-oesophageal reflux and general hepatology/liver disease.

Dr Prasad qualified from Guy's Hospital Medical School, London in 1994 and trained in major teaching hospitals in London and Boston. He went on to complete prestigious Advanced Endoscopy Fellowships in endoscopic ultrasound at Yale University, USA (2003-4) and in therapeutic endoscopy and ERCP in Charleston, USA (2002-3) under Professors Peter Cotton and Robert Hawes. 

 

At Yale, he was on Faculty as an Attending (Consultant) Physician and was the recipient of a Yale New Haven Hospital All Star Award. He has also been awarded the American College of Gastroenterology National Fellows’ Prize and an Astra-Zeneca Gastroenterology Travelling Scholarship. He was recently awarded the prestigious 2009 Imperial College Award for Teaching Excellence.

 

A faculty member on the National Endoscopy Training Programme at St George's Hospital, London, Dr Prasad regularly teaches advanced endoscopic techniques and colonoscopy to consultants and trainees in the UK and internationally.  He has recently co-chaired major international conferences in Cystic Neoplasms of the Pancreas held at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London and in Cholangiocarcinoma at The Royal Society of Medicine.  He was also invited to give a lecture on 'Acute Gastrointestinal Bleeding' to over a hundred consultants at the prestigious Royal College of Physicians Acute Medicine Update.

 

Dr Prasad is actively involved in the training of medical students and junior doctors including as an Examiner for Imperial College School of Medicine Final MBBS examinations.  He has also been awarded a Teaching Associate Award at Boston University. In addition to English he is fluent in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, French and German.
