Why is it necessary?

Emergency situations can occur at any time. In an emergency, you should seek medical assistance by calling 999 (or 112) to ask for an ambulance, and take appropriate steps to maintain life until help arrives.

The knowledge of first aid, when properly applied, can mean the difference between temporary or permanent injury, rapid recovery or long-term disability, and the difference between life and death.
