Active Ingredients:

Ketoconazole 2%

Use and Mode of Action:

This preparation is used for the topical treatment of severe seborrhoeic dermatitis (associated with an excess secretion of sebum) and severe dandruff of the scalp in adults

Dosage and Frequency (based on adult dosage):

Apply to the wet scalp, work into a lather and leave on for 3-5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with water. Apply twice weekly for two to four weeks. The maximum frequency is once every three days

Side Effects:

Generally well tolerated. Reported adverse events include allergic reaction, itchy, irritated or greasy skin and scalp as well as rash and redness

Cautions:

For external use only. Use regularly. Provides only temporary relief from symptoms during its period of use. Once treatment is discontinued it is expected that dandruff will recur

Contraindictions:

Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to ketoconazole or any ingredients

Pregnancy Use:

Ketoconazole is not absorbed from topically applied nizoral shampoo and so special precautions do not apply
