Hope -depression can be overcome

We too have experienced the misery that depression can bring
We are an alliance of people who have suffered from depression, people who have recovered from depression, carers, families and friends.

Contact and friendship

Depression often leads to isolation. People who are suffering may not feel able to go out. Sometimes families and friends may find it hard to cope and do not stay in touch. Therefore wherever possible we will put you in touch with one of our self-help groups.

Self help groups

The core of Depression Alliance is our network of self help groups. At these informal groups, people receive encouragement, reassurance, support and ‘listing ear’. They can share their experiences, and also information on ways of coping. They can disuse their feelings, without guilt, in a sympathetic environment. Group meetings are not places where people just listen to each other’s problems. Gatherings are usually lively and positive occasions.
