Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Week 9-17 March

Tell 10' campaign is launched across the UK

Cystic Fibrosis Week - 9th March to 17th March 2002

What is Cystic Fibrosis?  That is the question that the Cystic Fibrosis Trust will be answering along with the 7,500 people who have Cystic Fibrosis during CF Week 2002.  The campaign aims to get back to basics and build an understanding of Cystic Fibrosis (CF), the UK's most common, life-threatening, inherited disease.

"Tell 10" aims to raise awareness by asking every person with CF in the UK to tell ten other people about the disease, which attacks the lungs and the digestive system.

With an average life expectancy of 30 years the hunt for a cure is as desperate as ever.  If every CF sufferer tells 10, 75000 more people would become aware of what CF is and how it affects people plus their family and friends around them.

Rosie Barnes, Chief Executive of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust said:
"The "Tell 10" campaign will help to foster understanding and will start during CF Week.  Part of the exercise will be to give people an idea of the tremendous breathing difficulties, a person with CF has.  We will be asking people to try breathing through a straw whilst holding their nose.  Not as easy as it sounds!  We hope that this will give people, just for a moment, a feeling of what daily life it is like for someone with CF."

By supporting the "Tell 10" campaign you can help build a brighter future for thousands of youngsters.
