There are a number of very good reasons to ‘go organic’:
- Organic food is free from artificial chemicals, pesticides, antibiotics, growth-promoters and
- fertilisers
- It’s produced using environmentally friendly methods
- It’s free from genetically modified ingredients
- It reduces dependence on non-renewable resources
- It places emphasis on animal welfare
- There hasn’t been a recorded case of BSE in any herd of cattle that’s been in full organic management since before 1985
- Organic food often tastes better than non-organic
Organic foods - some studies show - have more vitamins and beneficial trace elements than conventionally-grown food and so may be more nutritious.
