It’s important to remember a few basic hygiene rules in the kitchen to ensure that you and your family eat safely.
-
Wash hands and dry on a clean towel (not the tea-towel) before handling food. Make sure you also wash your hands after going to the toilet or touching pets, dirty washing or the dustbin.
-
Cover cuts and grazes.
-
Keep all working surfaces and chopping boards scrupulously clean, especially when raw meat or poultry has been prepared. To prevent contamination it’s a good idea to keep a separate chopping board for raw meat.
-
Bleach, disinfect or change kitchen cloths or sponges often.
